Events

Over the years, as part of our involvement with the community we have held many, and varied, events.

These readings, book signings, talks by authors and other functions are as diverse as the selection of books we offer in our shop and, we hope, as stimulating.

Readings

We are particularly pleased with readings we've arranged where authors introduce their work and themselves to our readers.  These cosy and informal gatherings have featured Diana Athill, P D James, Claire Tomalin, Doris Lessing, Nick Crane, Martin Amis, Jane Smiley, Simon Jenkins, Xandra Bingley, Ian McEwan, Marina Warner, Michael Frayn, and Tracy Chevalier.

Benefits

We have also arranged and participated in a variety of other community based events.  For instance, we organized a benefit for our local libraries with Margaret Atwood, set up literary benefit events for local churches, and helped raise funds for International PEN in conjunction with Umberto Eco.
